When we left we had no savings to lean on. We'd sold a house and bought a camper, and after that it had to add up month by month.
What helped most was to stop counting towards what we wanted to achieve, and start counting what we need per month. That number came out lower than we thought. From then on it wasn't about getting rich, but about keeping room to move.
