Who we are
We're Nigel, Melissa and our wonderful daughter Chloé. When she came into our lives, she was the trigger to take a new step as a family.
In June '24 our house was handed over, the camper was set up and ready to go. Our goal: to head out on an adventure and look for a place in Portugal to build a more minimal, quieter life, with self-sufficiency as a big part of it.
That vision shifted after we'd been to Indonesia and Malaysia in Sept/Oct '24. The world is beautiful, cultures teach you a lot, food brings people together, and travel makes you grow, faster than you'd think.
So far we've had our share of hurdles, made choices on gut feeling, on what felt right at the time and what suited us. Taking on a new challenge as freelancers, using social media to share (which we're sometimes pretty bad at), buying a static caravan as a home base, doing workaways, visiting communities, and so on.
All those different experiences keep giving us insights that we add to our vision, our goal, the dream we carry. The dream we had when we left, the dream that faded when we grew to love travelling, and the dream that's slowly coming back now that we've lived in places around the world for longer stretches.

But what we can already say, the heart of what we've learned on this whole journey so far, is: trust what's coming, see every situation as a lesson, a challenge, a step forward. Communicate, be open and honest, and be kind to each other and to yourself.
The phrase "it's simply meant to be" (the hard and the good alike) takes so much weight off everything and gives so much trust. And that's a wonderful feeling.
